Mark Pocan (WI-02) released the following statement after the Federal Perkins Loan Program Extension Act of 2015 passed the House reauthorizing Perkins Loans through Sept. 30, 2017. Rep. Pocan introduced the Higher Extension Act of 2015, which passed the House, along with his colleague Rep. Bishop (R-MI). Despite Rep. Pocan's efforts in the House, the Senate blocked the bill and allowed the program to expire on September 30, 2015.

Mark Pocan (WI-02), a member of the Education and the Workforce Committee, spoke on the House Floor in support of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Reauthorization, the Every Student Succeeds Act. The bipartisan bill passed the House last night by a vote of 359-64 and the Senate is expected to finalize it next week. This is the first reauthorization of the ESEA since the expiration of No Child Left Behind in 2007.
