"In the absence of an imminent threat to the United States, the president must seek Congressional authorization prior to any act of war. Trump failed to seek, much less gain, Congressional authorization.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (WI-02) introduced the Tax Fairness and Transparency Act to close tax loopholes and bring transparency to corporations that hide their profits overseas. The legislation takes three common sense steps to make our tax system more equitable; it removes incentives for corporate tax inversions, ends tax deferrals on overseas profits, and brings transparency to profit-shifting schemes.

Mark Pocan (WI-02) released the following statement after President Trump signed legislation repealing the Fair Pay for Safe Workplaces rule for federal contractors behind closed doors. President Obama implemented the rule to resolve problems with contractor compliance and workplace safety by requiring companies to disclose past violations of labor laws so that contracting officers can make informed decisions about which firms are likely to use taxpayer dollars responsibly.
