Project: Village of Windsor, WI DeForest Windsor Fire & EMS Station No. 2.

Amount Requested: $2,000,000
Description: The Village of Windsor requests $2 million to support construction of construction of the DeForest Windsor Fire and EMS Station No. 2 to provide local first responders with the facilities they require to ensure the public safety of the surrounding communities. The new facility will house additional apparatus bays, training spaces, administrative offices, supply storage, and living quarters for both paid and volunteer staff, and the location of the facility will provide better access to surrounding communities that are experiencing significant population growth. The construction of Station No. 2 will allow the first responders in this rural area to better provide for the public safety of their communities and meet the needs of their expanding district and its growing population.

Project: Green County, WI Family YMCA Expansion Project

Description: The Green County Family YMCA requests $2 million to support construction efforts for a 50,000 sq. ft. expansion to an outdated facility to ensure all people, regardless of age and socio-economic background, have access to life-changing health, well-being, development, and community support services. The enhanced facility will include a combination of renovated and newly constructed spaces including new Childcare and Youth Development Centers, Healthy Living Center, Community kitchen, fitness classrooms, and programming spaces for seniors, adults, youth and more, better enabling the facility to serve as a true rural community services hub.

Project: University of Wisconsin-Madison Research Infrastructure Improvements Project
Recipient: University of Wisconsin-Madison
Amount Requested: $2,000,000
Description: The University of Wisconsin-Madison requests $2 million to support improvements to outdated research facilities utilized by both USDA Ag Research Service and University researchers. The proposed upgrades to the research infrastructure will enable ARS researchers and university partners co-located in the facilities to conduct new and improved research to solve grower problems and maintain US competitiveness for specialty crops, other agronomic and horticultural crops, dairy and livestock, and also improve human health outcomes.

Project: University of Wisconsin-Madison PFAS Center of Excellence Analytical Equipment Upgrades
Recipient: University of Wisconsin-Madison
Amount Requested: $2,000,000
Description: The University of Wisconsin-Madison is requesting funding to support research conducted in the University’s new Center of Excellence in PFAS Environmental Science, which seeks to examine the sources and fate of PFAS in surface waters, groundwater, and the atmosphere, a key priority for preventing future contamination and establishing adequate source control standards. The research will also investigate how PFAS move in aquatic ecosystems and groundwater, with the goals of understanding PFAS lifetimes and informing remediation efforts. Funding will be used to procure new, state-of-the-art research instrumentation needed to fingerprint PFAS sources in order to use PFAS forensics to identify sources and prevent further contamination.

Project: Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Equipment Upgrade
Recipient: Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office
Amount Requested: $155,000
Description: The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office is requesting funding to support procurement of vital scanning equipment to improve the safety and security of individuals and staff at the county corrections facility. Upgraded scanning technology will enable local law enforcement to significantly reduce the presence of dangerous narcotics, including opioids, and other contraband materials in the facility while simultaneously reducing the need for invasive physical searches. The acquisition of this equipment will better protect members of the public and law enforcement while improving the humane treatment of individuals as they are processed into the facility.

Project: Badger Prairie Needs Network Food Pantry Capital Improvement. City of Verona, Dane County, Wisconsin, 2nd Congressional District.

Description: The Badger Prairie Needs Network requests funding to support the renovation of an existing food pantry facility to increase food storage capacity, upgrade inadequate restroom facilities, and add workspace at the food pantry to enable BPNN to meet increased demand for emergency food assistance in Dane County, Wisconsin. The project will benefit low and very low-income households in Dane County struggling with food insecurity by enabling the food pantry to accept, store, and distribute two million additional pounds of food annually. It will also allow the facility to add workspace and upgrade restroom facilities to better meet the needs of the all-volunteer workforce.

Description: The Boys & Girls Clubs of West-Central Wisconsin is requesting funding to rehabilitate and repurpose an existing, underutilized building in Baraboo to serve as the new location for Boys & Girls Clubs of Baraboo. The new facility will allow the organization to serve a greater number of young people in the community in a safer and more secure environment than the current facility can provide. The requested funds will also help complete construction of the new Teen Center and Workforce Development Center.

Description: The River Food Pantry is requesting funding to support the construction of a new food pantry facility with the capacity to annually serve over 13,000 people from low-income and underserved communities throughout Dane County, WI. The improved facility will increase service capacity via The River's combined food distribution programs by an estimated 40-50 percent over 8-10 years, resulting in a reduction of food insecurity experienced by Dane County residents, as well as improved nutritional outcomes for community members. The project will also provide for the availability of wrap-around services that address underlying causes of food insecurity, thereby reducing intersectional barriers to food access and a healthy diet.

Description: The Southwest Tech Real Estate Foundation is requesting funding to support the acquisition of land to serve as the site for a new multipurpose workforce education and training center to serve rural Southwest Wisconsin in the areas of Adult Basic Education, English Language Learning (ESL/ELL), and workforce training geared toward the particular business and industry needs in the area. Acquisition of the property to construct a new Outreach Campus will allow Southwest Tech to meet the current and future workforce needs of Iowa County and Southwest Wisconsin.

Project: Urban League Healthy Food Entrepreneurship Facility Construction. City of Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin, 2nd Congressional District.

Description: The Urban League of Greater Madison is requesting funding to support the construction of up to 5,000 square feet of new space within the Urban League’s Black Business Hub to serve as a new Healthy Food Entrepreneurship program that will be used to train, launch, and support BIPOC food entrepreneurs. The project will allow underserved BIPOC food entrepreneurs access to much-needed space to launch and/or expand their food businesses along with access to training, business mentoring, capital, and other services to empower Black business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. The project will also improve access to healthy prepared foods in an underserved community.

Description: The City of Madison is requesting funding to support the acquisition of three large parcels of vacant and underutilized land along the frontage of East Washington Avenue for the development of a new community facility in the Darbo-Worthington neighborhood in Madison. The planned multiservice community facility would provide a variety of services including a food pantry, community and cultural events, affordable childcare, entrepreneur workspaces, as well as youth mentoring and leadership training.

Project: Evansville Highway-Rail Grade Crossings Improvements. City of Evansville, Wisconsin, 2nd Congressional District.

Amount Requested: $334,439
Description: The City of Evansville is requesting funding to support improvements of the Madison Street and Main Street highway-rail grad crossings in order to ensure continued viability of the Union Pacific freight rail line as well as improve safe passage and enhanced mobility for pedestrian and vehicle traffci in Evansville. Funding will be used to make significant infrastructure upgradws to the highway-rail grade crossings at the two intersections, including the installation of new concrete panels along the metal rails, new asphalt pavement to blend grade with surrounding walkways, upgraded signing and traffic control, topsoil restoration, and necessary improvements to the rail infrastructure.

Project: Great Sauk State Trail Bicycle Rail Trail Connection. Sauk County, Wisconsin, 2nd Congressional District.

Amount Requested: $2,400,000
Description: Sauk County, Wisconsin is requesting funding to support construction of the final section of the Great Sauk State Trail bicycle rail trail connecting the existing built trail in the Sauk Prairie Recreation Area south of Baraboo, Wisconsin to the 400 State Trail in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. The funds would go towards completing 20+ years of work to create the rail to trail corridor across Sauk County, linking vital major trails together and providing development that creates vibrant and diverse community economies. Funding would make the difference in finishing the trail in the very near future versus over a decade from now.

Project: John Nolen Drive and Broom Street Intersection Reconstruction. City of Madison, Wisconsin, 2nd Congressional District.

Amount Requested: $1,900,000
Description: The City of Madison is requesting funding to support reconfiguration and reconstruction of a critical intersection, identified on the City of Madison’s High Injury Network, to allow for safe bicycle and pedestrian crossings to the Capital City Path and Monona Lakeshore in Madison. The project will utilize funds to include a new traffic signal with new safe pedestrian and bicycle crossings, increasing safety and neighborhood connectivity to the Capital City Path, Monona Lakeshore, and adjacent parklands. Funds will also support reconstruction of the intersection’s stormwater runoff infrastructure to reduce flooding and property damage.
