WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representatives Mark Pocan (WI-02) and Robin Kelly (IL-02) led 109 of their colleagues in a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, urging him to restore essential HIV and AIDS services and expressing deep concern about the impact of the foreign aid funding pause on global health programs, particularly the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

Today marks the 26th annual National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD). The Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus and Congressional leaders recognize this day to help increase HIV awareness and enhance prevention, testing, and treatment among Black Americans.

This day comes at a critical time for our country as we work to reduce new cases and end the HIV epidemic by 2030, a goal established under the first Trump Administration.

The legislation would direct Federal Agencies to terminate any contracts held by a Special Government Employee, similar to bans for Members of Congress and other federal employees.
