Pocan Statement on CBO Report That 24 Million Would Lose Coverage Under GOP Health Care Plan

March 13, 2017

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (WI-02) released the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a report projecting that 24 million people would lose coverage under Speaker Paul Ryan and House Republicans' health care plan.

"The CBO report proves what we already knew—millions of Americans will lose coverage under Speaker Paul Ryan and President Trump's plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act," said Rep. Mark Pocan. "To make matters worse, out of pocket costs will rise especially for older and low-income Americans. At the end of the day, this plan means millions of hard-working Americans will lose coverage while the wealthiest few get a massive tax cut. So much for Trump's boast to provide ‘insurance for everybody.' The CBO report confirms yet another broken promise by President Trump and Republicans in Congress."
